2 Weeks at Home

I’ve been working from home the last couple of weeks. I am very fortunate that I am still employed, full time, and have a role and a team that supports me working remotely. Others I know haven’t been able or allowed to work from home, or are no longer employed at all.

It is cliche to say that my lifestyle has permitted me to transitioning to working from home without many problems. I have no kids, I have no housemate. My work environment remains entirely pants optional at this point.

But I am still looking forward to this all being over and being back in the office with everyone, even when work does turn slightly to custard.

It’s been a long time since I did one of these updates. I managed to get a couple of Europe posts done from (over) 12 months ago. I have a draft for Stockholm on the way, but struggling with making it less boring than they usually are.

Getting around Canberra, without a car

Back in January my car was parked at work when a massive hail storm blew through. It was intense, there was a lot of damage in Belconnen and the Parliamentary Triangle. All told I got off fairly lightly. My house is generally OK, there are a few tiles that lost a corner or two I should get looked at, and my roller shutters got pummelled, but everything else is fine.

Uppsala, Sweden

My first day in Sweden was a trip out of Stockholm to Uppsala, a university town to the north. I had breakfast in the hotel, where I found a waffle maker, which was a game changer for the carbohydrate breakfast course.

After breakfast I walked to the local train station and got a metro a couple of stops towards Central Station where I bought a regional ticket to Uppsala. If I had planned slightly better I might have used my Eurail Pass for the day trip, and bought a single ticket for another leg of my journey.
